Looks as if either a lot of anointed (formerly FDS) class had fallen and needed to be replaced, or a particular self-styled 'Judge' drank a bit too much scotch and babbled on about a completely fabricated cut-off date in the 1930's.

"Must you stop?"
by cedars inno, that's not a line from a rude film.
it's the title of a brief article on page 3 of the latest february 2013 kingdom ministry, which reads as follows... .
"when sharing in field service, some publishers customarily stop at a certain time, perhaps at noon.

It sounds to me like this is all part of an intricate mind game they like to play with the members. Notice how they move the bar ever so slightly by saying 'a few more minutes'. After all, who can argue with just a few more minutes? They make it sound so easy to do, and that it wouldn't even take more than an hour to hit that extra return visit. I feel that it's all a matter of them moving the goalposts without seeming too unreasonable in the process. People are then subliminally conditioned to want to do more, both for their own benefit before 'Jehovah' and to make a favourable impression amongst others. Then when the 'suggested donation' amounts come out, why not give just a little extra? When there's a Kingdom Hall to be built, make a tiny sacrifice and hold off on getting your children that toy they've been wanting. Just a small sacrifice. You wont even notice it and they can afford to wait. It's always 'More, More, More!' In the end you have nothing left physically, emotionally, or monetarily to give. All you have is them, and when you aren't as productive as you once were, you can sit in the back and not get in the way.

Wonderful news! My sister in law started attending Mass almost two months ago, and stopped bringing their two young children to the KH. My brother lingered and attempted to bring them back into the fold. However I found out last night that he informed them (the elders) that he wasn't turning in any time anymore, and this wasn't likely to change! It's so great to get a small slice of my family back! In a brief conversation with him last night, he had doubts as to the prophetic nature of the organization in addition to his desire to follow his family out. I couldn't be happier! Please don't let this be the only one to break free!

The Libertad incident smells like a stunt. An embarrassment to be sure, but I'd be laughing if the Chinese Politburo went after the USS Constitution over junk Treasury bonds. The world can consider itself lucky if all it has is Argentina to lecture about fiscal policy. Unfortunately that is not the case. Things are going to get uglier, and fast.

Her life is her own.
And...? I did not ask for any specific details. I wished her the best in whatever way she wished to pursue her life now. None of my speculations were insulting or demeaning in any way. In fact they were based on apparently erroneous (according to you and your direct source(s)) comments made earlier in this thread. I am thoroughly amused about how it is not an uncommon thing to see people take it upon themselves to police threads here with a rather snarky attitude. It's not enough to just tell someone they are mistaken, but rather that they had no right to say such things in the first place.

Given that most of Russell's doctrines have been proven false, even by the modern day Witnesses, I wonder if Jehovah had to 're-educate' the good pastor once he passed through the pearly gates. If Russell could get in after misleading many, then there's a good chance Joseph Smith is up there too in the rehabilitation wing.

The difference I see in Jim Jones vis-a-vis the WT Society is that People's Temple was centred round one man in the flesh - Jim Jones. WT is the FDS, or the Governing Body to be exact. For a speaker at a JW assembly to get up and suggest that everyone take the poison on the order of the FDS would cause chaos to say the least. I can see maybe a few diehards start queuing up, but I would venture to say that most would be getting out of there and probably seek some clarification from the Society. Suicide is not a part of the Witness psyche. You are told that you will not be resurrected if you do so. Witnesses rather are conditioned and prepared to make sacrifices for the Society, such as imprisonment, torture, and even execution. Martyrdom by the hands of others, not suicide.

The comment was made earlier that she didn't seem to want to have much to do with Ray's business, and I made the observation that one could hardly fault her for that if that were the case. Instead of putting forth a rhetorical question, feel free to correct me if you know any differently. The word 'probably' hardly counts as a definitive. This thread is based on hearsay and gossip about this subject to begin with. I can't see any reason why I shouldn't be allowed this indulgence too.
